Just Walk Away
House Speaker Greg Curtis almost lost his job yesterday. 46 votes is embarrassing.
Word on the street is that Real Salt Lake is planning legislation to make an end run around the pesky rules set out by Mayor Corroon.
This effort would no doubt include Speaker Curtis
BUT
Surely Speaker Curtis knows his humiliation is directly tied to the Sandy Stadium.
He will not survive a showdown with SLCo's most popular politician, Mayor Peter Corroon.

Ethan,
First, it was really cool meeting you in person Tuesday evening. KCPW's Julie Rose and Ethan Millard -- two of Utah's hippest denizens -- sitting right next to each other...
Second, your coverage of the Real Salt Lake stadium saga makes me think that all concerned politicians and politicos should be wearing soccer jerseys.
Naturally, as a Republican, I am saddened and worried about the Democrats taking control of the House and Senate. I can’t lie about that.
However, I did want to congratulate all of you who sincerely believed in the Democrat cause and worked so hard to bring about this victory.
I sincerely wish you well, and hope that this “new blood” will be able to do something good for our country. God bless you all.
Great attitude wannabe.
Curtis may still be out, I'm crossing my fingers.
Curtis paid attention to a lot of things, but he violated one critical principle: pay attention to the folks at home. He was so busy playing leader that he forgot the people that elected him.
Recount?
Thanks Rob, I have not seen the Davis County returns. I take it that you won your race. Is that right? If so, congratulations.
Like wannabe, I'm a conservative. But I have to say I'm thrilled to live in this country. The people were able to vote and the power shifted quietly. For the most part the Republicans have respected the wishes of the people. There will be handwringing and introspection - as there should be. But there will be no marching in the streets, no stampedes to the court house, no bloodletting. What a remarkable thing - this Republic. I'm just proud! And because we all must live with the results, I too am praying that everyone will do their very best to do the best for this country.
Curtis may still be out of a job.
