The Larry Miller Bogeyman

On Doug Wright's show, RSL owner Dave Checketts just accused Larry H. Miller of working behind the scenes to subvert the stadium plan. As this unfolds, it's clear Dave Checkettes does not understand the political sphere he's operating in. He's relied too much on Dean Howes who relied too much on Sandy's Republican club. Now they're up a creek, and they have no one to blame but themselves.

Why the hell would Larry H. Miller be trying to stop their stadium? I would think it would bring more business to his Jordan Commons complex. Or maybe he's worried about too much traffic and competition for his JC?

What did he say Miller did? I thought they said Miller was all for it because it was next to his junk out there?

He didn't really elaborate. He and Doug Wright talked about whether it was a personal thing between the two.

Larry heard that Checketts was going to have a free screening of Brokeback Mountain the night before RSL's home opener in the new stadium.

stenar -

My guess is that LHM doesn't want it there because his JC would be dwarfed in comparison. If I'm not mistaken, the Sandy deal would have been 2.5 times the size of Gateway. That's a lot of people that would maybe have frequented the JC going somewhere else. Just a guess.

Maybe it is better that Real just moved to Phoenix or St. Louis.

No, no it's not better that RSL moves to Phoenix or St. Louis.

Unless I move with them.

For once I find myself coming to LHM's defense...creepy.

I think Checkett's is experiencing some karmic backlash from his shafting of his Sportswest employees. It probably isn't a good idea to ask for millions of taxpayer dollars for pie in the sky when you're too overextended to pay your own people.

Kali- Don't let the door hit you on the way out. We were fine before soccer came and we will be fine if they leave. I would rather have the county spend money getting real industries here that would give our kids some high wage jobs. Checkets should take his ball and run to St. Louis..... Good riddance with bad rubbish!!!!

So Dave and friends why are you not smart enough to come up with a sponsor or you own damn money. Wouldn't put it past you to get all the stuff you want and still sell the team to the highest bidder leaving the taxpayers to foot your bill again.
