No Respect For The Loyalists

The Loyalists are the official fan club of Real Salt Lake. Aside from the obvious fact that official clubs are never cool, there is a larger reason The Loyalists are lame. When RSL was going through a tough spell, the "loyal" fans were the first to call for the firing of Coach Ellinger. Those cries have since quieted now that RSL is doing better. But where were The Loyalists when RSL's front man Dean Howes completely bungled the stadium negotiations with SLCo, earning the derision of all involved as well as the nickname "chowderhead"? Maybe if Coach Ellinger were a multi- millionaire, he'd have the respect of RSL's mickey mouse club too.

You obviously have no idea what you are talking about. The Loyalists never once called for the head of Coach Ellinger. The official website of the Loyalists is www.theloyalists.com. I challenge you to find one statement calling for Ellinger's head there. They haven't said anything about Dean Howes either.

This entire blog entry is loaded with crap. Where do you come up with half the stuff you write on this blog?

Are you going to go through the list and throw everyone out of the loyalists who is listed there?

Ummm... The Loyalists are made up of individuals... They have the right to think and petition and speak there minds as they see fit.

To say the "Loyalists" call for the head of John Ellinger is just plain uninformed and incorrect!

If you want to take pot-shots at groups because they disagree with you that is fine. but get the facts straight before you blather on so!

That whole blog post is a bunch of tripe that really was not necessary... and shows how petty you can be! So Forgive me if I don't agree with you.

The Loyalists are Supporters of Real Salt Lake and can be found at http://www.theloyalists.com

Those are individuals. Some of them may also be Loyalists, but that doesn't mean that they speak for the Loyalists or represent official Loyalist position on anything. I would imagine that the official Loyalist position would be that they believe in the freedom of each individual to make up their own minds on issues like this.

There were just as many individual Loyalists defending Ellinger as there were calling for his head. Again, those are all individual opinions. The Loyalists never once made any formal announcement for or against the firing of Ellinger.

It's stupid, and goes against many of Ethan's previous posts, to stereotype a group of people based on the actions of a few people in that group. I guess Ethan is just as guilty of it as the other people he has accused of doing it in the past. I guess we aren't all perfect.

Not to mention the fact that many inidivual Loyalists were saying just how badly Howes and RSL handled the whole thing so he is wrong about that too. Like I said earlier, the whole blog entry is filled with falsehoods and stereotypes making it crap.

BTW, I'm not Glen.

What is the deal?
The loyalists are just a bunch of like minded soccer supporters. They get together to talk about Real Salt Lake, have tailgates cheer at the games and at watch parties.

They are not a political party nor are they attempting to influence the the jobs of the employees at Real Salt Lake.

Each person is a member of the Loyalists for their own reasons and have their own views on the stadium, the coaching staff and the players.

All that the loyalists as an organization provides is a place for like minded, family friendly, soccer fans to congregate and support what we hope will one day be the best damn team in the league.

The Loyalists are just like any other group that wants to go out and support soccer in Utah... so what is with all the Loyalist bashing? It just looks petty to me!

Ethan makes a good point.

Deuce, how soon you forget. What about this (from your blog).

"- Sounds like the fans that want Ellinger's head are now in the majority, and it might hurt attendance... more on that in a minute... I was in the "Fire Ellinger" camp for a day or two, but I want to see how RSL fares against Columbus at home."

Ummm... I am not the only person that posts on the AYL? blog... as you can see from the post you quote.
It is a comment from Czar Jake who is a valued contributor to the blog.

Each of our contributors have their own opinions on each subject.

If we all wrote about the same thing or had all the same opinions, then one person could write it all.

It is meant to be a mish-mash of different opinions of "Loyalists".

If Jake Stucki Aero Fuegote or Steve wanted to take an opposing viewpoint on the stadium issue or Coach Ellinger they are entitled to do so and write about it on the blog!
Because they have not does not mean they can't and it certainly does not mean they agree with me.

So I fail to see your point!

The Are You Loyal blog does not represent official Loyalist position on anything. It is just a bunch of guys that happen to all be Loyalists sharing their thoughts on RSL and other stuff.

We even have one of the leaders of RCB as a contributor. Does that mean that what is written on the blog also represents RCB's position on everything too? If so, shouldn't they be called out as well?

The fact is that there is no official Loyalist position on firing Ellinger so anyone that groups all Loyalists together as having the same opinion is misguided and ignorant.

The only thing that is official for the Loyalists is www.theloyalists.com and I don't see anything about firing Ellinger there.

This is too funny, a politics geek talking smack with a soccer supporters group.

Ethan, before taking shots at the Loyalists, maybe you should pull yourself away from C-Span this weekend and come to a game.

You might like it. I'll guarantee it's much more exciting than trying to analize the latest poll numbers.
