The Deseret News Correction

The Deseret News correction of Bob Bernick's mistake does not change my opinion of what happened. The only thing the correction does is indicate that Mark Towner was misquoted. It does not in any way change what actually happened. Mark Towner clearly expected Ridgway to be prevented from attending the convention. What's amazing is that this man was hoping to ask me (as a voter in his Senate district) for the PRIVILEGE of being in the Utah Senate. I suppose Mark can partly blame the rest of his party for his actions. After all, the Utah Republican Party has become little more than a cloak and dagger game where some like Senator Hatch buy it and some like Speaker Greg Curtis kill (metaphorically) for it. Mark Towner was just copying everyone else.

I can tell by the tone and subject matter of your recent blogs that you must have started your internship with the "He-Man Woman-Haters club"called the Utah State Senate. I think you are Mischaractrizing Speaker Curtis because of the stadium, and only the stadium, which is really not fair or do you dislike him because he out foxed the Senate in BOTH the last two regular sessions and your new bosses are out for blood. I am just waiting for your first blog that touts how Smart, fair, and gifted Sen Waddups is. At that point you have lost all credibility as well as your mind.

If Speaker Curtis is as wonderful as you (anonymous) seem to think, why was he involved in the Guzzlegate scandal at the county? He's shrewd, but does not have my confidence vote. Anyone that smart should have known what he was doing was wrong. If he didn't, he's stupid. If he did, then he's unethical. Take your pick. Maybe Ethan has other things besides the stadium on which to base his opinions. I sure do.

Ethan, again you show your true colors. You ignore the facts, and spin, spin, spin. I guess that's why you call your blog site slc"SPIN". Lest we forget who started this event. It was Mr. Ridgway's dirty political trick. Funny how you never condemed his actions! Are you a cool-aid drinker as well? In regards to Bernick, I have never met the man. I have only talked with him on the phone twice in six years.

I would contend that Mr. and Mrs. Towner have grossly abused the anti-stalking provisions of Utah Law. Here is an excerpt of the actual law:
(3) The Administrative Office of the Courts shall develop and adopt uniform forms for petitions, ex parte civil stalking injunctions, civil stalking injunctions, service and any other necessary forms in accordance with the provisions of this chapter on or before July 1, 2001. The office shall provide the forms to the clerk of each district court.
(a) All petitions, injunctions, ex parte injunctions, and any other necessary forms shall be issued in the form adopted by the Administrative Office of the Courts.
(b) The offices of the court clerk shall provide the forms to persons seeking to proceed under this chapter.
(4) The petition for a civil stalking injunction shall include:
(a) the name of the petitioner; however, the petitioner's address shall be disclosed to the court for purposes of service, but, on request of the petitioner, the address may not be listed on the petition, and shall be protected and maintained in a separate document or automated database, not subject to release, disclosure, or any form of public access except as ordered by the court for good cause shown;
(b) the name and address, if known, of the respondent;
(c) specific events and dates of the actions constituting the alleged stalking;
(d) if there is a prior court order concerning the same conduct, the name of the court in which the order was rendered; and
(e) corroborating evidence of stalking, which may be in the form of a police report, affidavit, record, statement, item, letter, or any other evidence which tends to prove the allegation of stalking.

The hearing where the Towners will have to show, by a preponderance of evidence, that stalking has occurred will be Monday, June 5, 2006 at 1:30 pm in Judge Leon Dever's court, at the Matheson Courthouse, Salt Lake City. Those wishing to evaluate, first-hand, the psychological and ethical states of the accused and the accusers are welcome and encouraged to attend.
