RSL Stadium Not Going Well

The Salt Lake County Council has a lot of people whispering in their ears about the RSL stadium. On one side is Real Salt Lake and Sandy City. On the other side seems to be everyone else. Perhaps most troubling for Real Salt Lake City are these two dissenters: Steve Lundgren, Vice President of Salt Lake Valley Lodging Association: "We are trying to persuade them to be fiscally responsible. We get the least amount of return on this." Scott Beck, President of Salt Lake Convention and Visitor's Bureau: "We are now going to take all that money and tie it up for 30 years for the south valley Sandy area? That's what is scary from our end of the business." Both quotes from The Salt Lake Tribune.

WOOT! I wish they would kill the stadium site in Sandy. Sandy mayor and others from that grainy city were totally dirty and underhanded in the way they got RSL to select them as the site of the stadium. :P

Only problem: this is the same old stuff the hoteliers have been saying since the beginning. Why the Trib brought it up AGAIN baffles me.

Maybe Checketts should talk about making Sandy an international name. Forget SLC, everyone will know the name Sandy -- and the gravel pit.

'Everyone will know Sandy---and teh gravel pit'

Yeah--you are right. They will know it as the experiment that failed. A shit hole that isn't worth the 45 minute wait in traffic....after you get off the 90th south exit.

Everyone I know hates Sandy, always has. There is no life or culture south of 2100 South.

I'm surprised that everyone you know hates Sandy. That must be a pretty big circle you run with.

Last I checked Snowbird, Alta, Brighton and Solitude are all south of 2100.

Everyone I know hates Sandy, and that includes many people who have a season pass to or work at Alta or Snowbird.

What's the problem? You guys can't stomach the fact that now a little bit of money gets spent on our end of the valley? Rocky's town gets most of the county's and state's money, and now when it goes somewhere else you all throw a tantrum. Boohoo.

Yeah, Sandy's got its problems and could use more culture, but the stadium is part of the solution.
