DesNews Throws Down

The Deseret News came down hard on Draper City today. From their editorial on Draper refusing to allow a D.I. "most Utahns are not ready to adopt the caste system of India and label one segment of the population "untouchable." "read the poem "Richard Cory" by the American poet Edwin Arlington Robinson. There, a moneyed soul seems to have everything a person could ever want — prestige, property, power. But the guy goes home one night and puts a bullet through his head. Why? Because he was hollow. He'd mortgaged his soul. He'd forgotten what mattered most." Ouch.

I love how its Draper that doesn't want the DI. Like Draper is so upper class that it can't accept a "discount" store? Please, people... I'm sure that you could find Wranglers there and for a cheaper price! There is no need to worry.

Having Draper say that they don't want a DI is almost as obsurd as Bountiful protesting building a Walmart! C'mon people... its UTAH! Didn't you know... We're all po-dunks here!

there have been some awesome editorials in both papers over the weekend. Who knew the DI would create such controversy? Don't people know that the DI is not just a place to buy cheap things but to donate as well? Just think Draper could have the classiest DI in the state. Draper residents could but new things every year with all that money and donate their lightly used stuff to the DI. Awesome!
