"Can Anyone Tell Me How To Get Back Home From Here?"

According to the Tribune, Mayor Rocky Anderson was in Washington D.C. raging against :" phony, ineffectual homeland security grandstanding." Meanwhile Salt Lake City hoteliers have been raped by Utah's Legislature and Salt Lake County Government in a political payoff to Sandy And the silence from the Mayor's office has been absolutely deafening.

Ethan- Keeping the Mayor's office quiet was on purpose. Anytime you mention the word Rocky, you get a back lash up there. Trust me when I say that the Council was working on it from behind the scenes, there lobbyist was working his butt off, and they did everything possible to keep the mayor quiet. Salt Lake City didn't get as raped as you make it sound. They still get to use some of their funds for other projects, you just have to read the bill and appropriations really carefully.

Anonymous above just gives us another reason we need ethics reform. Developer legislators giving public funds to their own pet projects or those of their best buddies. Why should the lobbyist have had to work so hard to get someone to do something fair. Stinky!! You should have to recuse yourself from any vote from which you or the industry in which you are principally employed would benefit.

on the upside - I guess SLC could have lost everything if Rocky had gone on a tirade. Isn't that sad, that all that stuff he's been blowing smoke about hasn't truly benefitted the community and when he has a chance to help us financially, he has spent his political capital on side issues, people bashing and religious intolerance.

Go where? To China? Rocky should be offered the opportunity to run an Olympics just like Mitt Romney.

He can then run for EL Presidenta, and he won't carry Mitt's Mormon Demons, you know, the ones that cause the Christian Fundamentalist Mormon hating southern homosexual murdering biggots who think Joseph Smith is the Devil to literally shit their pants!

Can't you see it. You better be nice to Rocky, because someday he will be our President!

Hail President Rocky!

Hail President Rocky!

Hail Rocky!

Ethan, I understand your disappointment at SLC not getting the soccer stadium, but wouldn't Sandy hoteliers get screwed if the roles were reversed? Salt Lake City being the capital doesn't automatically mean everything must be built there, after all less than 10% of the states population lives in SLC.

That said, the whole thing is stupid anyways. There isn't any legitimate public interest in building a soccer stadium. If the Real want a stadium let them pay for it. That money would help build lot other stuff we need a LOT more. So in the end the people being screwed are the taxpayers. Perhaps the best way to fund the stadium is a $10 tax on Real tickets.

Or maybe a $10 tax on people who make uninformed, unintelligent comments on a blog....Just a thought.

to mark smith. you're partially right. But it isn't the hoteliers that we're talking about here. The problem is that legislation was created last year to specifically disallow SLC, the when the guys in the development business and their cronies got what they wanted, they reversed the legislation. That is what is so incredibly stupid, transparent, and (because I can't bring my self to use the description term I would like) stinky! If it had started out in Sandy to begin with, no one would have had a whole lot to say, but because it started in SLC, they were, by mandate of the legislature, not able to use their RDA money to do it and then have it "awarded" to Sandy and then change the legislation so their RDA can do it is just absolutely revolting. Greg Curtis and his buddies need to GO right along with Rocky.

Huge real estate developers and groups like the Board of Realtors, which represents the Real Estate Agents and like concerns, they're the ones who run this state, make ABSOLUTELY no mistake. The comment about having to recuse oneself is right on the crotch of te matter. This state is FULL of hypocrites and "forked toungue talkers". In addition to this thought, my other thought on the whole thing goes something like this: The REAL state legislature is at 50 E North Temple. If it's not one, it's the other.

I don't think Hatch is a jackass.

I think you should have the World Jack ASS award and give it to Ross.

You can even give it to him for free.

And it will hang in city hall, forever.

Ok, I understand you all hate Rocky, but comparing him to Super Dell? That is going a bit too far.
