A New Name For The Intermodal Hub

Today's Tribune talks about the new light rail spur to the Intermodal Hub. First, I am very uncomfortable with the term "Intermodal Hub". I don't like saying it. It sounds weird. Perhaps we could give it a real name. Like the "Gateway Something Something". Or the "Legacy Something Something". Or better yet, "The Ross C. 'Rocky' Anderson Memorial Something Something". Or we could hire the romanticist liars at the Boyer Company to come up with a name like "Rural Neighborhood Tree Crossing at the Enchanted Deer Forest". My point is, they should build two Trax stops between the "Hub" and the Delta Center, not just one. Really, I think this is something worth spending extra money on.

I think the downtown TRAX line is cluttered enough as it is. Two more stops between the Delta Center and the Hub would mean there'd be 4 stops in 4 blocks.

Ok, it might clutter it up, but we really need to concentrate on placing the two stations at the other end of the Gateway, by 2nd South and one further west along 2nd south. One would serve the southern end of the Gateway, so you can save yourself from walking from the delta center if you are going to the movies, and the other would serve the future developments behind the Gateway (and serve the 5th West residents). According to the project director at the Mayor's office, this will be beneficial to the future development of the Depot District. Now, Boyer company doesn't want those extra TRAX stations because it will inhibit access to their existing parking structures (if you can't get there easily you can't spend money for parking). But, it's supposed to be a Transit Oriented Development, isn't it? Boyer is scared that too many ppl will take TRAX instead and they'll lose out on parking money. By definition, a TOD is supposed to encourage ppl to come and go by transit, thus reducing the reliance on cars, reducing traffic and poor air quality. It helps too if it is a walkable community. I wonder if Boyer is anti-transit and pro-car?
