Janneke House Endorsements

Janneke House endorsements as listed today. Equality Utah: This type of endorsement in such a small race always sets off alarms in my head. So what now? All gays in the district are voting for her? Probably not. Janneke House is willing to take her domestic partner benefit cues from the Mayor, so she's Equality Utah's candidate. Despite the fact that the best hope for benefits lies in Councilman Jergensen's plan. Mayor Rocky Anderson: This is the core of the campaign. Because he is Mayor, he can be forgiven for living outside the district. Senator Scott McCoy: Also doesn't live in the district. There are mixed feelings about him in District 3 while questions surround the way in which he gained his seat. Many feel it was an unwanted last minute coup. District 3 is very loyal to former Senator Paula Julander (who did not support Senator McCoy) and House Minority Leader Ralph Becker (who may challenge the Senator next election) both of whom are supporting Councilman Jergensen. Jane Marquardt: Mayor Anderson's first choice for this campaign. Backed off after finding little support within the district. Donald Dunn: Famously loyal to his West Side. Maybe he'll also endorse a District 1 candidate. Pat Shea: Don't know much about him. Lawyer. Oddley connected for a 24 year old to pull out of her pocket. Probably just another quid pro quo. AFSCME (American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees): Alarm bells head are ringing. So now all the government employees of District 3 are voting for her? Not likely. Carpenters Union: So now all the carpenters in District 3 are voting for her? Meaningless endorsement.

Actually, Pat Shea is well-known Democrat that has run for several public offices. He is also a well-known USDOJ attorney who has done critical work with terrorism and other law enforcement issues. But your insinuation that there's something inappropriate going on without knowing who the guy is really cute, particularly your noting that House is 24 years old and her relationship with Shea is "oddly connected." Real classy.

No insinuation other than her campaign is top to bottom Mayor Anderson's work. That's my overall point. He got her the staff, he arranged the endorsements.
That's all.

First, I have been working on Janneke's campaign from the begining and I have no ties to Rocky Anderson. In fact, six years ago when he first ran for mayor I worked against him on Dave Jones campaign for nine months.

Second, why do you assume that any prominent Democrat who supports Janneke is a "gift" from Rocky? This is a slow campaign season and several people have targeted the district 3 race as the one to watch. It does not take instructions from Rocky Anderson to motivate democrats interested in city council politics to work for and endorse Janneke.

Third, the democrats that you have pointed out whom are endorsing Eric Jergensen committed to their endorsements prior to there being a viable oponent. I suspect this was the safe bet when it looked like Eric was running virtually unoposed.

If you have questions or concerns about what you suspect is going on with her candidacy or her campaign then contact her. Her phone # and e-mail address have been easily available the entire campaign. Or is it just easier to call her a 24 year old sycophant without offering any evidence or bothering to learn her position on the issues?

Janneke is her own person... she does have a lot of friends... one happens to be the mayor. So, get over it. She is also very attractive... intimitating for those types who spend too much time at their blogs.
