It's sad because there was another interesting sports franchise that suffered the same fate. The Grizzlies were triple Turner Cup winners when they were downtown. Since they've been in WV? Nadda.

It took several politicians to bring us this decision. Not the least among them is Rocky I-hate-Utah-and-SLC Anderson. He effectively drove the stadium from its prime location.

They Grizz only won 2 Turner Cups, and only one was in the Delata Center (the other was in Denver). The DC sucked for hockey, anyway.

So Rocky had the final say then? Why did he opt for Sandy?

If there's one thing both Repubs and Demos can agree on, it's that Rocky Anderson is a royal dipshit.

you got me bob, it was only two.
as for the DC, it might suck physically for hockey, but geographically it was years ahead of the EC.
point is, banished to suburbia, the grizz generate no interest, no following, and have to ditch not only any hope of competitivness, but their league as well.

I'm not defending the decision to locate RSL in Sandy, but let's analyze what Rocky did to drive the stadium from its prime downtown location.
-Fact 1: The stadium couldn't be built at all without cooperation from the legislature.
-Fact 2: Rocky takes great delight in doing everything possible to ensure that the legislature hates his guts.
-Fact 3: You can't poke the legislature with sharp sticks every day for years and then expect them to play nice with you when you have a project.

The moral of the story? Stick-it-in-their-eye politics might be fun sport, but it pays poorly when you need cooperation. No man (or city) is an island.

not trying to start a fight, but are you defending the politics of retribution?
I understand why they'd want to get him, but..... sleazy is sleazy.
