Update From The Salt Lake War Front

KBER 101 just had a caller describe his experience at the "Free Speech Zone" at Pioneer Park today. He showed up to support his brother in the Air Force. He was pushed to the ground, spat on and had a drink dumped on him. Someone even tried to hold him down but was only able to scratch his arm as he ran away.

Why is that when people want to express their free speech these days over the war, it almost always leads to fisticuffs?

Are people that immature that they think firing a gun in the air or driving over little cardboard crosses will really sell their point more than just protesting/counterprotesting?

civil dialogue, as even this site proves on a regular basis, has no place in politics

Tell that to Rocky Anderson, who was there at the Rally, pumping his fist in the air with the rest of em.

I was at the protest and there was one incidence of potential violence and it was instigated by a Bush supporter. He decided to follow one woman around the park screaming his political views less than 10 inches in her face. She asked several times for him to leave her alone yet he continued to follow her. I wonder if this was the same guy … if it was … would you have excused the protesters behavior.
